I'm a web tech enthusiast, serial entrepreneur, organic food lover and 17 year type 1 diabetic. I founded and continue to evolve SugarStats.com with a wonderful team and the goal to continue helping the 246 million worldwide diabetics manage their diabetes online and give them a social support network.
I always seem to be engaged with some new design, mockup or idea, though I don't really view that as a curse. Design, usability and keeping things as simple as possible are things I tend to obsess about. Or as I like to say: "I'm a shining example of what happens when you make ADD work for you." Kind of funny, no?
Having worked with the online health communities over the last 3 years, it has been great in general to see and be a part of the evolution of eHealth or as some would say "Health 2.0". It is exciting to me how we can utilize the new web, new technologies and online social support to better our individual health, lives and lifestyle habits then inherently humanity as a whole. Constant innovation and disruption in the online health space is what is going to drive progress forward.
On top of that I'm a huge geek, always hacking away at some code somewhere. Among others I usually find myself entangled in some Ruby on Rails, MySQL or XHTML/CSS. On the weekends you can find me recompiling my kernel.
I'm originally from San Diego, California but now spend my days in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. I love traveling as experiencing new cultures, meeting new people and entertaining new ideas to expand my perspective. I think life is about balance, learning and having fun with what you're passionate about. My first Reboot was Reboot 8 and I'm quite excited to be coming back for 10.
I look forward to meeting you all there, feel free to get in contact: marston@sugarstats.com
Matt, Love the idea, I'm sure I'll see you around in the next few days at the conf. I'll keep an out out for the guy with the flip ;-)
Hey all, Catch me at twitter.com/marston - I look forward to next week and meeting most of you in person. Anyone else going from ...
All I heard were great stories about this. This year I'll bring a watch to make sure I'm not somewhere else!
