Eelco has 12 years of very differentiating jobs experience, from programming OO languages like C++, smalltalk and java, to management of a business unit. The latter has his core focus at the moment, he is committed to proving that an agile process can be hyper-effective on a large scale organization or operation.

Several assignments as business unit manager, department manager, program manager, project manager, technical lead have taught him how to use agile principles on an organizational level.

Business Unit Manager at Xebia

August 2007 – Present

From the position of Managing Consultant, i moved to the management team of Xebia in August 2007, and started running one of the three business units of Xebia, Xebia Software Development. This unit, that has 30 professionals in holland and around 20+ (growing) in India, is setup to do software projects in an agile way.
I run this unit in an agile/lean way, using scrum and light touch leadership together with normal management skills to manage this unit to reflect the Xebia values; People First, Quality without Compromise, Sharing knowledge and Customer Intimacy.
My personal goal is to prove that it is possible to have a large unit with the same feel and culture of a close community. Focussing on integrity, transparency, quality, working together, knowledge sharing and be fierce when it comes to our core values are the things that matter to me most. I am focussing on people in my unit being the best they can be on everything that comes along.
