Tom is founder and executive director of The Bread Bakers Guild of America. In 1979 he co-founded the BreadWorks artisanal bakery in Pittsburgh, USA. In 2000 he retired to San Gimignano in Italy.
What is more human than than baking bread? It is, across cultures, the very essence of life.
But what's the hook for reboot? As a passionate advocate for the practise of artisanal bread making, Tom has faced many of the same challenges that we technologists face when advocating for the creation of more human (and humane) systems. If Wonder Bread is Microsoft, then Linux is a good loaf of hand-kneaded dark rye.
