What the craft traditions can show us about how we work now
Building software, building the web, (and building software for the web) have a lot in common with some of the conditions of craft production (say, letterpress, cabinetmaking, knitting...), but very often our ways of working are derived from the methodologies of industrial production. Can we take something from those craft traditions to make our lives better? Can we synthesise a new way forward? I reckon we can, and that there are really useful models in the British Modern movement.
