How do I know what I think until I've said it out loud in public and wasted everyone's time?

Babbage's noise

An unfinished, twisty, confused poking at the history of information

Is everything information? Nah.

As we exit the Information Age, it's maybe a good time to ask whether everything ever really was information. For example, if Babbage's early computers weren't really information-based machines, then things that are less like information probably weren't either.

This talk -- as yet unfinished as of the Tuesday before the Thurs evening talk -- is going to be tentative and full of holes. I don't actually know what I think yet. And perhaps I never will :(
