Singletasking for Multitaskers

An Introduction to Zen-Meditation

Our work styles nearly always involve multitasking: doing several things at the same time or switching between tasks. Many of the new web applications we use and the structures we work in intensify it: More tasks, more diversity, more things happening simultaneously. We practise multitasking hard and are proud when we succeed in juggling our multiple tasks.

In this session, we will do the opposite: By focussing on only one single task - breathing - we will discover how difficult even performing just one single task at time can be. This will give us insights into some things specifically human: A perspective onto what consciousness is, how our mind works and who we are.

I will introduce you to a simple Zen-Buddhist Meditation. We will discuss our insights and experiences afterwards.
