Acting in the new nowhere land
We are evolving to a new organization of our context with virtual gated communities. An outcome of living our life in social communities is the rise of a new nowhere land. Will you be the lord of your community or rather become a free wanderer? And how do companies act in the this landscape?
In the middle ages villages where closed bastions. The communities of people shared everything with each other and keep strangers outside the big brick walls. A journey from village to village was an adventure where robbers where waiting behind every tree. The knights and the wanderers where the few ones that go outside.
On a different scale we see a drawback in the own communities also nowadays. In cities like Singapore is the gated community more common than exception. In my own country more and more compounds are build where a form of gated community is build into the architecture.
In our online context the promise of the global village will not be the case at all anymore. In the first decade the mass media was translated to an online adept, in the second decade the communities of connected user has become a dominant entity. The coming years these communities will evolve to virtual gated communities.
In this talk I will look into the drivers of this development. And explore the consequences for the way we use the online media in the new context. How can we find ways as free minds to offer resistance to the lords of these communities. How can we live in the new nowhere lands. And how should companies act to connect to these communities.
