Being Free within Organizational Structures
A conversation on achieving "free working" in a more traditional environment
Within the existing structures of a larger organization it is not trivial to be a “free worker”, even when the organization embraces the idea.
The physical layout of workspaces, a stupid alarm system, health and safety regulations that prevent the use of tablet pc’s, perceived expectations by peers: there can be a ton of reasons why we do not work as freely as we would like to. I have encountered some interesting examples (like a “free” manager that got fired because his team demanded a more traditional management style with clear objectives and physical presence) and would love to have a conversation about your experiences.
What barriers did you encounter in practice? How did you cope with them? Or can we avoid some? In this conversation I would like to share experiences and discover what we can learn together in order to be free within organizational structures.
