Free Your Body

A crash course in how the body works

Given that we're all pretty good at understanding systems, it would seem that if we understood more about the basics of the human body, we could take on more responsibility for our own medical care – freeing the healthcare system to look after people who really need professional intervention.

I'm not talking wheatgrass and shiatsu, I'm talking "what's the difference between a bacterial infection and a viral one" and "why do we get headaches" and "how much can we really cut down on the spread of infectious diseases by better handwashing" and "can I really do anything to cut down on my chance of getting cancer."

I wonder if it's possible to condense this sort of information down into a 45 minute session – a sort of "crash course in ourselves." It would take an MD or other smart person good at explaining things
