Learning through action
CoP's and the #hzap08 project
Last year I've run a CoP (Community of Practice) on innovation in education at the Rotterdam University of applied sciences. In this CoP we've collectively tried to put thought and vision into action. Activily seeking the borders of our zone of influence, exchanging resources and knowlegde, prototyping and learning as we go.
Running a CoP and putting the potential into product was much harder than I thought. Then again it has opened a pandora's box of educational possibilities and needs.
I would like to share my experiences and have a conversation with people who are running CoP's themselves or supporting them (through for example platforms).
My interest lies in how groups of people handle "wicked problems" and produce "unthinkables"
I can share my experiences on what happened in the CoP.
- How we started.
- How we selected people.
- Our interventions
- What worked.
- Pitfalls
- The platform we used.
- The results
I also have some questions that I'd like to explore:
- how do you fit "open source" (and it's culture) into an educational org.?
- what are mechanisms that spread knowledge beyond the CoP (transfer)?
- are there design heuristics that will quickly make you grasp a problem (so you can work on it)?
- how to managethe energy in a group of individuals?
