See you at the workshop :) the session on DAY1 :

------------------------------------------------------------

Nadia: so tell me, did you have any particular way of going about making the action manifesto in mind?

Thielke: no, not really - I was thinking about the result that I would like to have after the workshop. I think the difficulty about a reboot workshop is that people are so different from one another - its also a fabulous thing, but it makes facilitating more difficult. haha!!

Nadia: yes. true. I have a suggestion for you :)

Thielke: bring it on :)

Nadia: I think we are going to get two sessions of 45 minutes each after which we have access to a smaller room.

Thielke: that sounds promising

Nadia: So what I had in mind is presentations, then a short evaluation of certain tracks (5) based on what the presenters have said. After the presentations we have the idea generation session where each idea is pushed and developed into an action manual. The other alternative is that we decide beforehand what the components of action are, what needs to be there in a discussion and then look into ideas

Thielke: it sounds like the way to do it so.. (thinking). You're thinking one open idea generation session, or split up into grops, according to the speakers topics?

Nadia: split up into groups

Thielke: We may need only the one session for your speakers, and then a consecutive session for ideas generation. Groups is good, I think we could make it open space, where people get to suggest overall topics to be discussed in the groups

Nadia: yes and then designate one topic per table/ area, with flip over papers for that topic. People spend 15 minutes in a group, and then everyone rotates. But the aim has to be that this should be translated into an action

Thielke: actually, it fits very well with another thing Thomas has asked me to do - there will be a collection of 'a 100 things to act on', that will be collaborated on during all of the conference, so that spare ideas, that does fit in this session, can find a home nevertheless

Nadia: so maybe one table could be just about action. What is it, what does it entail, who do you need in order for it to happen, what stands in its way, how do you think about it

Thielke: Good idea. And good idea about letting them rotate (Thanks Ton!)

Nadia: because then you get different peoples input.

Thielke: exactly. And you don't get lazy or bored :) People can´t handle very long collaborations without switching topics :D

Nadia: I know, Im the same :)) have the attention span of a goldfish. What would be cool is if we had somewhere to put the ideas, somewhere visual. A physical box or big poster or website or something

Thielke: me too - and 3 years as a consultant, I know that everybody is like that. Well, we can always use the (web)site, but physical makes it more 'real'. Maybe we could make them a bit artsy

Nadia: yes, I like flip over sheets because you have all the material collected in one place and its easy to present

Thielke: i'm wondering if we may have soNadia Nadiadium sized black cardbord pieces here at the office - you know, the kind that kan stand by itself, used for design presentations

Nadia: ah, that would be cool. We will need a digital camera for every table to take snapshots of the board for every session, so we have records and can easily post them online. Maybe people can bring their cameras with them to the workshop...

Thielke: I think Reboot has got plenty of flip over sheets, so we're covered for the basics at least. I've got a handfull of 50x70, black on one side, white on the other. That way people can draw on the white side as well. so, I can bring those, and we ask for a bunch of flip overs. As for camera, I've got one, but I'm not sure I'll bring a computer - as I'm bringing sound equipment as well :)

Nadia: hmm I would like to record the presentations but am worried about the sound. wil figure something out, maybe there are mikes lying around.

Thielke: well, anyways, as for at program. Nadia, the most natural would be for you to present the speakers and then we can share the task of getting people into groups and help them get something onto paper. I'm guessing our job will be to keep the energy in the groups

Thielke: should we end the second session with short presentations of group work?

Nadia: and make sure things are being documented so we can present the conclusions . Jesus you´re a mind reader. yes.hahah

Thielke: Only 2 min presenations, or we'll be bored

Nadia: yah

Thielke: hehe
