Social Web, Social Change and the Return of Community

Open Space, Social Media and Open Data

Toronto-based ChangeCamp instigator Mark Kuznicki will discuss how the transformation from an industrial to a network society requires us to build new institutions, structures and tools.

ChangeCamp is a participatory series of events that asks the question: "How do we re-imagine citizenship and government in the age of participation". More than the specific contents of the event itself, we are interested in advancing practice in online meets face-to-face collaboration for citizen engagement, social innovation and public policy innovation.

How are we going to solve the tremendously difficult problems we face?

By changing how we gather, talk, listen and act. We need to integrate our innovations from social technology and social change with capital and power. We need to reinvigorate the public sphere and transform our communities. We need to rewire as a networked society of networks and build new structures to support healthy networks and communities.
