Reboot Time Capsule
Let's build a Reboot Time Capsule
Reboot has had a profound significance in my life, it changed in many and indescribable ways the way I see the world and how I envision the future, even now, more than a decade it's hard to know how other rebooters have seen this change happening, so I got this challenging idea to build a Reboot Time Capsule, that would take our visions and thoughts to a future generation.
So the challenge is for all Rebooters to help build a time capsule, everyone is invited to contribute with something that they would like to share with future generations, historians suggest that items which describe the daily lives of the people who created them, such as personal notes, pictures, and documents, would greatly increase the value of the time capsule to future historians.
So I propose, that we create the Reboot 2009 time capsule!
Sounds interesting?
:)
Things we need to sort out with the help of all Rebooters:
1. Select a retrieval date
2. Brainstorm on the container
3. Find a secure indoor location
4. Which items, should be in the Time Capsule
One common problem raised by the Time Capsule, is the fact that it's locked to intermediate generations, the ones between the closing and the opening of it, how should we address it?
Any thoughts on this whole idea? :)

Great idea!
Pedro this one is a classic!
I wouldn't worry too much about the container as long as is durable.
I'm already thinking about an item !

I think it's a nice idea. Although for serious future anthropology I think archive.org and the internet in general would be a better way to assess how we were thinking about the world.
Still, a nice idea. I would've been interested in what the early reboot-audience was 'predicting'.
Online/Offline
Erik, as I raised the question it wouldn't make sense just to create something thats only physical and completely digitally disconnected, if there's something that connects us all in Reboot is technology.
But you have to wonder that the technology that supports us might or might not be here in the future.. it's a bit pessimistic, I know, but "accidents happen", and we're living uncertain times regarding our mother ship: earth!
In my view a combination of digital and non-digital artifacts seriously connected would be memorable :)
archive.org...
...needs moderation - but a TimeCapsule is, indeed, a rather old skool idea.
The problem with our tech, as pointed out by Pedro, is that it's so complicated, if we experience a disaster of some kind, the renaissance will be difficult, because you can't "view source" (hattip to Ben Hammersley's speech at reboot8)
OTOH maybe me need to create a new Rosetta Stone, what language is universal? Mathematics?
We can add our mythology
One of the other proposals talks about creating the mythology of Reboot. That mythology should be in the time capsule I think.
Is there a good write among us, s/he should become Reboot's Homeros and add our mythology to the time capsule :)

Great!
I suggest a Runic-stone, a Reboot Tapestry, which already has been suggested in some form, or better a "stensætning" (symbolic vessel/ship marked by an outline of rocks) - very Scandinavian - the tapestry will, unlike the Bayeux Tapestry, be a statement "against" the traditional war-monument, it will celebrate "our", not the warlord's, victory!
Why is that most monuments show the heroic soldier or the strong woman not the millions of innocent dead.
