How To Facilitate (H2F)
A short primer on facilitating sessions at Reboot 11
Over the past Reboot-years I've heard various people express apprehension about hosting their own session. That is what led to a facilitator's pool for Reboot: helping you out by taking the facilitation out of your hands.
This time I want to put facilitation back where it belongs: in your hands. In a 45 min session we will work together on a handful of practical things to help you facilitate sessions.
I think we are all better of when more of us know how to feel comfortable facilitating a session, having a toolbox of work forms at hand.
Some of the things I hope to address:
Know when to facilitate, and when to leave it to others.
Staying in control by letting go.
Creating energy by doing nothing.
Facilitating meetings, workshops, processes: differences, similarities
Goals, results and fitting work formats.
Preparing facilitation
Capturing 'results'
Time permitting: on-line facilitation
If you are already experienced in facilitation I would love to have you on board for this session, so we can bring more stories and examples to the table, as well as different perspectives.

I'd like to help (some way or the other)
Not a lot of experience. But I'd like to hone my skills. So if in any way I can help I'd like to.
I'll in for a helping hand ;)
Count me in as well Ton, I'd be happy to help others find their way to present their ideas and work.
Good initiative...
when will you guys be doing this? I´d love to take part :)
Session scheduled: Day 1 11:00-11:40
The session has been scheduled immediately after the key-note on Day 1. See programme www.reboot.dk/page/23727/en
Re: Help Wanted
I have been through Creative (De Bono) and Interpretative (US National Association of Interpretation) Facilitation Certification Programs-Let me know if you need me....
All help is welcome.
Lori, et al,
all help is welcome. To share your stories, and experiences, explain work forms or tips etc.
What I'll do is a very quick intro about a few things I think are basic attitudes to have. And then share our insights/stories/examples so people can translate it to their own situation.
Lecture
I was a bit disappointed by this session, since I thought we would do a number of practical excercises to gain insight. But it was more a traditional lecture, one way communication.
My impression was that the speaker was a true expert in the field, so I think it would have been better to do more hands-on, perhaps by having us do demos of various techniques, or working in subgroups etc.

Help Wanted
Are you experienced in facilitation? I can use some help putting this session together. So leave a comment if you want to help out!
