Living in a money free world

reputation based commerse in a star trek utopia

A look at if as a race human could remove money from all society, and what would replace it.

Money is an abstract concept, we made it - we can remove it from society. But how would that society exist, In star trek there is no money, but everyone is in the military and constantly at war, or eking out a living farming on some distant outworld.

Pensions are failing, banks are collapsing, the fragile house of card that is financial organisations looks more and more unsustainable.

If money is gone, what is left, our reputation. We are as rich as the live we lead. Video games such as World of Warcraft require much 'grinding' to level up. How can we bass our richness on the mundane and good will we do.

karma credit cards or big brother intrusion?

- update.
thanks to everyone that came to my talk, the heavily shorterned version :)

Interesting!

"Money is a sign of poverty."
- Iain M. Banks, 1987.

This is a tagline we've used for the RepRap project, which has the ambitions aim to end scarcity of physical products. As an intermediate goal we wish to equip everyone who wants it, to have a factory that can produce anything on-demand, including the machine that can make things on demand ( proposed talk here: www.reboot.dk/page/23130/en )

I'm collaborating with Marcin who has a similarly ambitious aim. Read more at www.OpenFarmTech.org :
Open Source Ecology is a movement dedicated to the collaborative development of tools for replicable, open source, modern off-grid "resilient communities." By using permaculture and digital fabrication together to provide for basic needs and open source methodology to allow low cost replication of the entire operation, we hope to empower anyone who desires to move beyond the struggle for survival and "evolve to freedom."

moneyfree world

you havent included the zeitgeist movement that has 100s of 1000s of members worldwide. We will NOT realise freedom or equality within a monetary system , we must DEMAND a world of free access , a world democraticly controlled by all citizen not just 0.0001%
