Why what we do we have to do it with love
The origin of this conversation idea originates in a short talk given by Isabel Inés (ludita.net) in mid 2006. She was inspired, as well, by an idea that Otl Aicher gives in the book "The kitchen for cooking". Aicher says that "the best meals are those prepared with love". After that talk a group of people started falling for that concept, agreeing that we should be doing our work with a little less mechanical and way more lovingly.
Love in development is something that only happens when love is something that comes as a 'default' feature within the group of developers, but love is probably the most sought-after feature by humanity during their lifetimes.
Should we include love in our business plans? How do we add love to our development process? Is it really that important? Can we quantify love? Should we care?
Obviously how well is love implemented can't be measured. And this is not about cheeseness and companies where everybody loves everybody but about doing things with care, thinking if we were going to be users of our product... would we like to be loved by it? Ain't the successful apps the ones that we end up loving? And this is not about using marketing or any of its siblings to broadcast love towards our product.
This is about developing with love. A two-way love-affair.
