Actually, they're asserting their trademark 'Pecha Kucha' - not claiming copyright (as far as I'm aware). I'm not a lawyer, but I don't think there is any legal problem with having people talk for 20 seconds for 20 slides...just as long as the session is not called Pecha Kucha, and is attempting to 'pass off' as an 'official' Pecha Kucha session.
